Personal Branding Photography in Medellín: A Year of Images From One Shoot

A regular headshot is one image. A tight crop of your face for LinkedIn, the company page, your email signature. A personal branding session is a different animal. It’s a library you can use for a year or two, across every place your face shows up. Different angles, different clothes, different settings. The point isn’t to look “professional” once. It’s to build a look that stays consistent everywhere people find you.

I’ve been doing these shoots for years — mostly for entrepreneurs, coaches, content creators, and realtors. The kind of person whose face is part of how they make a living. The format is a half-day: three to four hours, a couple of locations, two or three outfit changes. Before we shoot, we talk about where the photos will live. Your website header. An Instagram grid. A podcast cover. A YouTube thumbnail. Each one needs a slightly different frame and a slightly different energy.

Variety is the whole point

What separates a good brand library from a forgettable one is variety. If every photo from the day looks the same — same angle, same face, same background — you spent half a day for one usable image. The goal is to walk away with 25 or 30 different shots you can rotate all year.

Tight head and shoulders. Three-quarter body. A wide shot at your desk or in a café. A walking shot. A laughing shot. Something with your hands — talking, holding something, typing. A frame with empty space on the left for a headline. Another with empty space on the right. The variety isn’t decoration. It’s what lets you actually use the photos without posting the same face over and over.

What you’re paying for

Most people come to me after trying to do it themselves once. They stood in front of a friend’s phone, got 200 photos that all look the same, and felt let down. The thing a phone can’t copy isn’t sharpness or color — phones are great at both. It’s the directing. Knowing when to ask you to laugh, when to pause, when to look away, when to catch you mid-sentence. That’s most of what you pay for: someone behind the camera whose only job is to spot the moment you look like the version of yourself you actually want online.

The studio, or out in the city

I work out of a studio in Laureles when we want clean, controlled light. But Medellín is a great town to shoot in. People let you photograph almost anywhere, so we can also head out — a rooftop, a café, the street outside your office, wherever fits your brand. Try that in some cities and someone asks for your permits.

Who it’s for

If your photo only ever lives on one page, you don’t need this. A regular headshot does the job for less. But if your face is the brand — coaching, creating, selling homes, building something people follow — one image isn’t enough. The same photo everywhere, for two years, starts to feel like a placeholder. A branding session fixes that for a year, sometimes two.

If you’re in Medellín and thinking about it, book a session and we’ll work out a plan.
